In the News: Alternatives to Stonehenge…

While browsing Witchvox today, I saw this article, “Alternatives to Stonehenge: 10 Places to Celebrate the Summer Solstice.”  Since I’m in stuck in the middle of a huge writer’s block/creative slump as well as a minor life crisis at the moment, and seeing how the solstice is coming up in a week, I figured today’s post would be about this article.

The sites listed in the article are mainly for UK or European celebrants, but if you should be traveling or plan to travel to the UK for the solstice at some point, some of these places should be considered.  Stonehenge is awesome and glorious, of course, but there are also some other worthy places as well.  I’ve only been to Stonehenge (though sadly I wasn’t in time to celebrate the solstice on that trip), so I can’t speak to any of the other sites listed in the article, but I do know that Avebury is supposed to be wonderful, and Cornwall is supposed to be absolutely beautiful.

  1. That should read,’writer’s’ crabs.

  2. I’m going to Solstice this year to try for pictures of a sunrise. 2005 was the last successful one. The sun still came up, but without the pizzaz of fire. The litter aspect of mass entry haunts me, (see link solstice2010)
Any hope there to release you from weiter’s crabs.
    Kind regards, Alan
